Fans Forum update

Story in brief:

This is the first fans forum update that has been put together for the fans by the fans

This is the first fans forum update that has been put together for the fans by the fans.

We hope to give you regular feedback on future meetings and events that have taken/will take place.  Hopefully we can answer some of the initial questions that you may have about the role of the forum and we want to reassure you that we are here as your voice to the club.

Why was the fans forum started?

In the summer the club made the offer via an open invitation for fans to join them as a fans forum, "to identify and work together in developing matters and initiatives that are of mutual interest that will enhance the clubs progress and development".

What are the aims of the fans forum?

The group at the outset were reassured that this was not just a "tick box" exercise by the club and that they were genuinely interested in working with the fans and listening to their views and comments.  The objective is to use the forum as a "sound bite for obtaining members views and opinions to aid the design and development of initiatives it seeks to introduce".

Who is on the group?

The group is made up of fans both male and female, young and old!

We all bring different views of the club but we all have one thing in common and that is to help Castleford Tigers be the best that it possibly can, both on and off the field.

Several club officials/staff are also in attendance and are able to answer questions raised and pass comments and feedback to the relevant people.

Where do the meetings take place and how often?

The meetings are held down at the club in the Aqumen Intelligent Recruitment Suite at the ground and have been held approximately every six weeks and normally last 2-3 hours.

What sort of things have been discussed?

There have been many issues discussed including:

  • helping to improve match day experience
  • the playing squad - strength, recruitment and development.
  • discipline.
  • fund raising ideas
  • the new stadium.
  • community involvement

The club are more than willing to listen to our ideas and views whether they are positive or negative.  Whilst the meetings are quite informal, they are noted and any follow up actions are then reported back at the next meeting.  However it is also appreciated by forum members that there are times when items of a confidential nature are discussed and this is respected at all times.

What work are we currently doing?

One of the main topics we started work on was how we as fans and other members of the community could help the club to raise additional funds for our new ground.

The first project to get underway is the buy a brick scheme which you can do via the website - click here - or by completing a form and handing it in at the Tigers Den in Carlton Lanes.

Other ideas we are currently working on include:

  • how to remember our years at Wheldon Road, as we approach our last season there
  • selling memorabilia
  • celebrating the move to a new home and ensuring our heritage is not forgotten.

What if I want to be a member of the forum?

We would welcome any new members who have the fans and the clubs interest at heart.  If you are interested then please contact the club at casfocus@hotmail.co.uk

And finally we would like to thank you for taking the time to read this and if you want us to take any questions, comments or ideas to the club on your behalf please email us at the above address.
