Castleford Tigers are saddened by the news that former player Fred Ward has passed away

Castleford Tigers are saddened by the news that former player Fred Ward recently passed away.

Born in Castleford, Fred made 152 appearances and scored 37 tries for his hometown team between 1952-1958.

He later transferred to Leeds and went on to play for York and Keighley.

He then became coach at Hunslet when they played Wigan in the 1965 Challenge Cup Final at Wembley.

The club wish to extend their condolences to Fred's family and friends at this sad time.
