Story in brief:
Castleford Tigers are delighted to announce that Interim CEO Steve Gill has been appointed the Club's Chief Executive on a permanent basis.
Gill, 53, has been confirmed as CEO following a two-month interim period from which he stepped up as Head of Youth Development.
The Tigers are also pleased to announce an expanded Commercial Team to develop revenue and sponsorship activities. The team will be lead by Commercial Director Mark Grattan and Commercial Manager Richard Pell who join with over 20 accumulative years experience with Coca-Cola.
On the appointments, Castleford Tigers Chairman Jack Fulton said:
"During his time as Interim CEO, Steve has shown that he has the leadership qualities and business nous that is needed to drive Castleford Tigers forward through the difficult period that it is currently in.
"I am determined to turn the fortunes of this club around and believe that will happen under the tenure of Steve Gill.
"Steve has been swift to indentify that we need more people of the right calibre in revenue generating positions for the club to realise its commercial and sponsorship potential. As such he has implemented a strong Commercial Team with my full support.
"Although some fans will see Steve as an out-and-out rugby man, his knowledge of the game is finely blended with a sound business background that is proven with his time in the insurance industry and as Site Manager at international technology manufacturer, Jungheinrich overseeing multi-million pound contracts.
"He is a Castleford man through and through who is dedicated and devoted to leading the Club to a bright future."
Castleford Tigers Chief Executive, Steve Gill said:
"I am proud and honoured to have been appointed Chief Executive of Castleford Tigers.
"I am determined to deliver what everyone with Cas at heart wants: for the Club to be successful on and off the field. Key to this is restructuring the Board of Directors with a new and experienced team of business people which will happen over the coming months.
"During my time as Interim CEO I have recognised some opportunities that would help build on the solid foundations that already exist.
"As well as producing a winning team on the field I want to increase the involvement of our loyal supporters and protect the proud traditions that we have.
"I also recognise that in order for the Club to be self-sufficient, we need to have more than a one-man Commercial approach. As such, we have brought in a highly experienced and innovative Commercial team which will help us achieve our goals.
"I can assure fans that my team and I will work tirelessly to get Castleford Tigers back where it needs to be in the rightful place of the upper echelons of Super League."
Gill is joined by Commercial Director Mark Grattan and Commercial Manager Richard Pell who both join the Tigers from Coca-Cola. There they held various commercial, sales and management roles and together were responsible for £18m worth of business per annum.
They will be joined by B2B Membership Manager, Sally Jackson who starts on Monday. Sally brings with her 14 years of previous Account Management experience with Coca-Cola.
Mark Grattan said:
"Richard, Sally and I have been brought on board for our commercial experience and knowledge.
"We need to take advantage of the many revenue opportunities that are out there for the Club. Key to our plan is to increase customer service levels for our current sponsors whilst also looking to bring in new business partners from both inside and outside Castleford.
"Also important to our plan will be to re-engage with our past sponsors, with a view to get them involved with the club again.
"Richard will be looking after our current sponsors, events and match-day packages while Sally's aim is to service and enhance relationships with local businesses as part of the Club's Membership Scheme."
