Webster To Play For York On Sunday

Story in brief:

Castleford Tigers' Jake Webster will play for York City Knights on dual registration this weekend.

Castleford Tigers' Jake Webster will play for York City Knights on dual registration this weekend.

Webster, who hasn't played since suffering an injury in the defeat to Hull KR on the 24th March last year, will link up with the Tigers' partner club for their match at Hunslet Hawks in the Kingstone Press Championship One on Sunday.

The New Zealand international has been cleared to play for York by the RFL as he has been granted an ‘indefinite leave to remain', and Tigers' Head Coach, Daryl Powell has said that he is looking forward to seeing the centre back in action.

"It will be great to have him back," Powell said.

"He's a high quality player and he looks in good shape.

"He's done a lot of training - I think a fair bit more than he did last season when he was struggling to get a pre-season done.

"We need to manage him in the right way, but when we get him on the field we know what he's going to deliver as he's a quality individual.

"Jake will put pressure on the centres but also on the back-rowers as well as playing him there is something that I'm considering."
