Supported by Castleford based company Dalziel, Castleford Tigers Foundation have been able to launch a series of new multi-sports school holiday camps within the local community, allowing families to access affordable sports camps for 7-11 year olds.

Dalziel are a nationwide business specialising in food ingredients and suppling over 5000 butchers all over the country. Having a depot based in Castleford, the local company have pledged to donate £40,000 over a 4-year period, to allow the set up and running of new multi-sports camps delivered within the community.

Paul Nelson and Graham Smith, Site Directors of Dalziel Castleford, wanted to provide a legacy for their business and through funding this project they are enabling activities for youngsters in the school holidays to keep them active and not sat at home in front of a screen.

Using Castleford Tigers as a vehicle to run these camps, allows players from the club to get involved and inspire the children in the community and create something special through Castleford Tigers Foundation.

Mat Lancaster from Castleford Tigers Foundation commented, “Launched in the February half term, the camps are growing from strength to strength in the school holidays and this would not have been possible without the support and fantastic kind donation by Paul and Graham at Dalziel”

Graham Smith, Site Director at Glasshoughton Depot said, “This is exactly what we wanted from the project - 3 days where the kids in the local areas can play different sports, make new friends, and see their heroes getting involved too. We wanted to create a legacy with sport for kids in the town and when we were approached by the club last year, we jumped at the chance to partner with the Foundation to give back to the community”.

Andy Luff, Business Development Executive, said “It’s been great to see the camps full and the players getting involved too, with the support of Dalziel we have created something amazing for child to get involved in whether they want to just play sport or who knows one day run out on the turf at The Mend-a-Hose Jungle. We invited Graham down to officially launch the Camps in the Easter holidays and for both of us it was an immensely proud day.”
