Tigers suffer defeat to the Wolves.

The Tigers fall to a 30-8 loss against the Warrington Wolves

The night began with a minutes applause for former Tigers Head Coach Daryl Van De Velde who passed away earlier this week.

Luke Hooley sent the ball into the sky from the tee to get us underway at the Haliwell Jones Stadium.

It was the Tigers who struck first through Josh Simm, Innes Senior made a 60m break down the line but was tackled by Matt Dufty, the tackle wasn't enough however as the ball was shifted to Jack Broadbent who skipped over and delivered an easy ball for Josh Simm to finish.

It didn't take Warrington lomng to cause issues soon after when Matty Ashton made a break of his own down the right edge but was tackled confidently by Luke Hooley, the ball was then shifted towards Josh Thewlis who kicked for himself, Jacob Miller was luckily there to force a drop out for the Tigers.

Cas were in possession once again after a Josh Thewlis knock on, a positive set for the Tigers was soon turned around after a 7 tackle set.

The 7 set tackle set soon turned into points for the Warrington Wolves when Matty Ashton used his pace to run down the right edge and dive acrobatically in the corner.

Two repeat sets for Warrington came consecutively after from the try as two Drinkwater kicks forced Luke Hooley over the dead ball line.

It didn’t take long for Matty Ashton to get his second of the evening, constant pressure from the Wolves and the Tigers couldn’t hold on with 10 minutes to go before the half.

Warrington carried on their onslaught with a play out the back to Matt Dufty who found a pass inside to Joe Philbin who dotted down 5 minutes before the half.

Cas went into the half 20 points to 4 behind after a penalty goal by Stefan Ratchford was nailed over as the hooter sounded.

Cas made things harder for themselves straight away in the second half when a pass was batted into the hands of Josh Thewlis. Wire once again took advantage and Matt Dufty dived over to add another try to their tally.

Cas looked to change the sway of the game soon after with a try of their own, a looping pass from Westerman was batted down to Sam Wood who found Innes Senior in the corner.

A spirited Tigers defence went head to head with Warrington’s attack on multiple occasions in the second half, Cas did well to keep the home side out.

Cas had another chance with 20 to go through Luke Hooley who went through the line, however Josh Thewlis was there to tackle him into touch.

Too many errors for Cas cost them well earned field position on multiple occasions, the story of the evening for the Tigers.

Another sloppy error for Cas allowed Toby King to pick the ball up and spread the ball wide, Josh Thewlis was there to dive over and put the game to bed.

A spirited performance once again from Craig Lingard’s Tigers side but another defeat on the road.
