The 23-year-old joins the Tigers for 2022 after rising through the ranks at local rivals Leeds Rhinos and the young second row/centre will be looking to make an impact in his first season at the Club.
Sutcliffe initially joined the Headlingley club at Scholarship level in 2013 before eventually making his Super League debut against Wigan Warriors in 2017.
After making his Rhinos debut, a couple of loan spells at Featherstone Rovers followed. The most fruitful of these was during the 2019 season where he made eighteen appearances throughout the Betfred Championship season, scoring sixteen tries. Sutcliffe scored Rovers’ only try at Lamport Stadium in the Million Pound Game that season, although Featherstone eventually lost out by 24 points to 6 against Toronto Wolfpack.
The following season he helped Leeds to their 2020 Challenge Cup Final victory over Salford at Wembley Stadium.
When it was announced that Alex was joining the #NewCasEra in 2022, the second-rower claimed that he is excited to join the other talented youngsters and embrace the culture at Cas!
In 2022, Sutty made 15 appearances for Cas scoring twice. He will be staking a claim for a first team spot in 2023.
